Evista

Evista, also known as Raloxifene, I part of the group of medications called selective estrogen receptor modifiers or SERMs. Evista is chemically related to estrogen but has been modified to produce the beneficial effects of estrogen while reducing the side effects. Its main purpose is in the prevention of osteoporosis in women who are experiencing menopause or are beyond. Evista slows the breaking down of bone and therefore increases density. The results can be detected through various tests with a positive outcome being able to be detected within a year.

Evista should usually be taken at a 60mg dose at the same time of the day with or without food.

If a dosage is missed, take it as soon as remembered or if you are close to the next dosage, skip the missed one and continue on the regular schedule. Never take two doses at the same time.

Evista should not be used if you are:

• sensitive or allergic to Evista or ingredients found in the tablet
• are capable of becoming pregnant
• have had thrombosis
