AcipHex

AcipHex is used to treat the stomach for conditions caused by too much acid, such as peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), and Zollinger-Ellsion Syndrome. AcipHex stops acid production in the stomach causing the ailment to slow and eventually stop. A short 4-8 week period is usually prescribed for GERD. GERD might become chronic if acid buildup has been occurring over a long period of time, therefore needing a longer prescription period.

AcipHex is also prescribed for the short-term of 4 weeks when reducing ulcers or Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome. AcipHex can usually stop the production of stomach acid by blocking specific enzymes from being released. The acid will be significantly reduced an hour after administration.

Aciphex should be stored at room temperature and kept away from moisture. The pill should be taken whole and not crushed, split or chewed. It is to be taken once a day and if a dosage is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered unless it is time for your next dose. Do not double up on doses, just skip the one you missed and revert back to the regular schedule.
